THE POSITION
The Department of Corrections invites skilled dentists to bring their expertise to a part-time role that supports important community health needs. As a Dentist (Part-Time) with the Department of Corrections, you will help deliver dependable dental services to the inmate population at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon. This position offers clinical autonomy, assignment flexibility that supports work-life balance, and excellent support from a dedicated team in a stable clinical setting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on providing essential dental care and overseeing daily operations within the correctional setting. As a dentist with the Department of Corrections, you will perform the following duties:
Clinical Care:
Provide examinations, diagnose oral diseases, and deliver dental treatment to inmates
Staff Oversight:
Supervise the daily work of assigned dental staff
Treatment Support:
Assist specialists during on-site procedures
Security Compliance:
Maintain required tool control, security measures, and material handling procedures
Patient Consultation:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Part-time employment, up to a 30-hour work week Your work schedule is to be determined. You will not be required to work weekends. Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55

You will not have the option to telework in this position. Hourly rate: In some cases, the hourly rate may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $84.94 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement:
You must possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
