As needed, daytime hours, occasional Saturday Under the direction of a licensed professional, the Patient Care Technician delivers hands-on patient care and comfort, assists with clinical procedures and technical tasks, and accurately observes, reports, and documents patient status. The role supports safe, efficient unit operations by focusing on personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and prevention of complications, while preparing patients and environments for procedures. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the PCT provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered support across diverse care settings to promote quality outcomes and a positive experience. Responsibilities:
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care Partners with the RN and other licensed healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care. Assists patients with activities of daily living e.g. dressing, bathing, walking, . Acknowledges and meets patients' needs regarding movement and elimination. Answers patient call lights and responds appropriately to patient requests. Obtains, monitors, and records vital signs, weights, and intake and output. Performs procedures and tasks specific to the assigned area under the direction of a licensed healthcare team member (e.g., specimen collection, simple dressings, traction set-up, pulse oximetry, blood glucose testing, EKGs). Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens in a safe and timely manner. Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Documentation and Effective Communication Uses technology to promptly and accurately document care provided and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Reports in a timely manner pertinent patient observations, significant incidents, and changes in condition to the appropriate team member. Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team. Seeks instruction and supervision when implementing new or unfamiliar tasks. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service Department Support and Unit Operations Participates in unit operations by organizing work areas, assisting with routine cleaning of equipment, and maintaining orderly storage of supplies. Assists with stocking, inventory control, and management of clinical supplies; ensures availability of necessary equipment and materials. Performs clerical and unit support duties as assigned (e.g., chart preparation and maintenance, assembling and labeling records, answering phones) per competency and department expectations. Assists with room turnovers and preparation of patient care and procedure areas. Performs patient transport for admission, discharge, and procedures in a safe manner. Supports continuity of care and coordination of services. Balances team and individual responsibilities and demonstrates professional behaviors, supporting goals of the nursing unit and stewardship of resources.
Qualifications:
Education High school diploma or GED, or current enrollment/actively pursuing completion - Required BCLS - Required
