Duties Prepare and assemble meals according to prescribed menus, dietary guidelines, and resident preferences, ensuring adherence to all safety and sanitation standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food processors, while following proper manual handling and lifting practices. Assist with food production tasks such as portioning, plating, and packaging meals for delivery or service. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food storage areas through regular cleaning and sanitation procedures aligned with food safety regulations like JCAHO standards. Support dietary department operations by managing inventory levels, rotating stock, and handling food items with proper food handling techniques. Work collaboratively with nursing staff to accommodate special dietary requirements for residents with specific health needs or restrictions. Follow workplace safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe lifting practices for heavy items, and adherence to infection control procedures such as sanitation and cleaning routines. Provide excellent customer service by serving meals courteously and assisting residents during dining times to promote a positive experience. Experience Previous experience working in assisted living communities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Familiarity with food production, meal preparation, and kitchen operations is highly desirable. Knowledge of dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special health needs is a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic math skills for portioning, measurements, and inventory management are essential. Experience with food safety standards such as proper food handling, sanitation practices, and workplace safety protocols is preferred. Certification in CPR or first aid is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided if needed.
