In this vital role, you will assist in meal preparation, food service, and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will ensure residents receive nutritious, appealing meals that meet their dietary needs while fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of geriatric patients and residents through excellent service and care. Responsibilities Assist with food production, meal preparation, and serving to ensure timely delivery of nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements. Operate kitchen equipment safely, adhering to food safety standards, sanitation protocols, and workplace safety guidelines. Support the dietary department by handling food handling tasks, cleaning kitchen surfaces, dishes, and dining areas to maintain a hygienic environment. Work closely with nursing staff and dietitians to adhere to specific dietary plans for residents with special nutritional needs. Assist with manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies or food carts while practicing safe lifting techniques. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times during food handling and cleaning activities. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by engaging positively with residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining professionalism. Skills Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and kitchen equipment operation. Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks effectively. Familiarity with adhering to dietary requirements and working with geriatric patients or individuals with special nutritional needs. Basic math skills for portioning, measuring ingredients, and inventory management. Excellent communication skills coupled with a friendly attitude to provide outstanding service.
