In this vital role, you will assist in preparing, serving, and maintaining nutritious meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring a safe and welcoming dining environment. Your positive attitude and commitment to workplace safety will help foster a caring atmosphere that promotes health, happiness, and dignity for all. Responsibilities Assist with food preparation and meal service in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards Ensure proper handling, sanitation, and storage of food items to maintain food safety and hygiene standards Support the dietary team by bussing tables, cleaning dining areas, and maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and food service areas Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy trays or supplies to prevent injury Work closely with nursing staff to accommodate special dietary needs for residents with specific health conditions or restrictions Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately during all food handling and cleaning tasks Maintain accurate documentation related to food production, sanitation routines, and resident preferences Skills Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable Strong knowledge of food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and workplace safety regulations (including JCAHO standards) Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently, including heavy lifting and safe lifting practices Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with food preparation techniques, meal service procedures, and kitchen operations Experience working with geriatric patients or in dietary departments is preferred Effective customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward residents' needs Knowledge of nutrition principles relevant to elderly populations or those requiring specialized diets This role offers an engaging opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents' lives while developing your culinary and healthcare skills.
