Job Description
Company Overview The Florida State Elks Association, Inc. is dedicated to serving the community through its network of Lodges, operating a large residential youth camp, and conference center. Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Culinary Assistant to join our team. In this vital role, you will support food service operations within our facility, ensuring high standards of food preparation, safety, and sanitation. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a positive dining experience for residents and staff alike while adhering to all health and safety regulations. Responsibilities Assist in preparing and assembling meals according to dietary requirements and menus Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food processors Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including sanitation of surfaces, utensils, and appliances Support food handling procedures in compliance with food safety standards and ACA guidelines Manage heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices during meal prep and supply stocking Follow proper manual handling procedures to prevent workplace injuries Assist with bussing tables, serving meals, and ensuring timely delivery of food to residents Requirements Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred Knowledge of food production, preparation, and sanitation practices Familiarity with dietary department operations and adhering to dietary requirements for geriatric patients Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently Ability to work with kitchen equipment safely and effectively Experience working with geriatric or special needs populations is a plus Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude Food handling certification or willingness to obtain prior to employment Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of daily duties Join us in making a difference through nourishing our community's youth and seniors!
