Job Description

The kitchen assistant/dishwasher is accountable to the food service supervisor. 1. Candidate must be at least 16 years of age. 2. A pre-employment physical must be of file and renewed every four years. 3. An employment application and resume must be completed. 4. A 90 day probationary period is observed for each new employee. Attendance and punctuality is crucial. 5. Candidate must be willing to work occasional holidays and weekends. 6. Candidate will complete departmental courses in sanitation, food preparation, and modified diets. 1. Works well with residents and staff. 2. Is willing to take direction and use supervision constructively. 3. Enjoys and understands the geriatric resident and relates to him/her in a caring manner. 4. Possesses good physical and mental health. 5. Has knowledge of the importance of good handwashing techniques. 6. Is able to read and follow recipes for quantity cooking. 7. Is able to organize time well and implement routine procedures. 8. Is able to do heavy lifting. 1. Works on a part-time to full-time basis. 2. Arrives for work with a clean uniform. 3. Wears a hairnet at all times. 4. Washes hands frequently. 5. Is responsible for proper dishwashing and general cleaning of kitchen and dining areas. 6. Uses appropriate food cooking, storage and serving procedures. 7. Cleans and stores dishes and utensils in a sanitary manner. 8. Operates equipment in a safe, efficient manner. 9. Is cautious in the correct use of detergents, cleaners, or other chemicals. 10. Monitors inventory and uses supplies as needed without waste. 11. Attends staff meeting and inservice programs on a monthly basis.
