This energetic position involves preparing and serving food in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring safety and sanitation standards are upheld. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to meet the specific dietary needs of our residents, especially those in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming dining experience that promotes health and well-being. Responsibilities Assist in preparing meals that adhere to dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines for residents or patients. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently during food production and meal service. Follow established sanitation, cleaning, and food safety protocols to maintain a hygienic environment. Serve meals with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation for each resident or patient. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning kitchen areas, and managing sanitation tasks regularly. Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques and adhering to JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards. Assist with manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and safe lifting practices to support meal preparation and delivery. Skills Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, and serving techniques aligned with dietary needs. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks during busy meal times. Ability to work with geriatric patients or individuals with special dietary requirements compassionately and professionally. Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety protocols including PPE use. Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and meal planning. Effective customer service skills to ensure a positive dining experience for residents or patients. CPR certification is a plus; willingness to learn about dietetics or nutrition principles is beneficial. Join us in making a difference through nutritious meal service!
