Responsibilities Assist with food production and meal preparation according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences Serve meals with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas, including cleaning, bussing, and food handling Adhere strictly to food safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling practices Support dietary department operations by managing manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and safe lifting techniques Work closely with nursing staff and dietary team to accommodate special dietary requirements and restrictions Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following all workplace safety guidelines Assist with inventory management, including food storage, rotation, and sanitation procedures Engage with residents respectfully during meal service, promoting a friendly dining environment Follow all JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards for quality assurance in food safety and service Skills Previous experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred but not required Strong background in food production, preparation, cooking, and serving within the food industry or healthcare settings preferred but not required Knowledge of dietary requirements for geriatric patients or those with special health needs is a plus but can be trained on site Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy meal periods Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining sanitation standards Effective communication skills for working collaboratively with staff and engaging positively with residents Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and meal planning Commitment to workplace safety practices including manual handling, heavy lifting, and proper use of PPE Embrace this opportunity to contribute your culinary talents in a rewarding environment where compassion meets excellence.
