POSITION SUMMARY
The Food Service Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities and equipment. He/she may also assist in some aspects of food preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITLES
1 Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty; 2 Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures; 3 Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment; 4 Delivers food carts, trays, etc. to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining room, as instructed by supervisor; 5 Serve - in dining rooms; 6 Prepare and deliver snacks as directed; 7 Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures; 8 Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor; 9 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights; 10 Performs related work as assigned.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1 Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English language. Previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.
JOB SKILLS
1 Working knowledge of the methods and techniques of handling and serving food. 2 Working knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling. 3 Ability to follow diet lists, portion food as specified and serve food in an appetizing manner. 4 Possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. 5 Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in the English language. 6 Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES
1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees. 2 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
