Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will assist in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals and snacks to residents or patients, ensuring their dietary needs are met with care and professionalism. Responsibilities Prepare and serve meals according to prescribed dietary requirements, following all food safety and sanitation standards. Assist with food production tasks such as portioning, plating, and packaging meals efficiently. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food prep spaces through regular sanitation and cleaning routines. Support residents or patients during meal times by serving food courteously and assisting with eating if needed. Adhere strictly to safety protocols including safe lifting practices, manual handling procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Help with bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and ensuring dining areas are tidy for each meal service. Follow all workplace safety guidelines including proper handling of kitchen equipment and food products to prevent accidents or contamination. Collaborate with dietary staff to ensure all special dietary needs are accurately prepared and served in compliance with JCAHO standards (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations). Qualifications Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Knowledge of food handling, preparation, sanitation, and safety regulations. Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with special dietary needs is a plus. Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy meal periods. Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively. Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management. Excellent customer service skills with a caring attitude towards residents or patients. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and stand for extended periods; familiarity with safe lifting practices is essential. Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) or Food Safety certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
