In this vital role, you will support meal service, food preparation, and sanitation efforts within a vibrant healthcare or assisted living environment. Your contributions will ensure that residents receive nutritious, safe, and enjoyable meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and workplace safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills and gain valuable experience in dietary and geriatric care. Duties Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards Serve meals to residents or patients with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring proper portioning and presentation Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers, following all safety protocols Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and food handling equipment through regular sanitation and cleaning routines Support food handling activities such as bussing tables, stocking supplies, and managing food storage to promote sanitation and efficiency Adhere strictly to food safety regulations including proper manual handling techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels, rotating stock appropriately, and reporting shortages or issues Experience Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable Familiarity with food production, food service operations, or culinary tasks is preferred Knowledge of dietary department procedures including adhering to dietary restrictions and special nutritional needs for geriatric patients Experience with safe lifting practices, heavy lifting techniques, and workplace safety protocols is essential Strong time management skills to efficiently handle meal preparation schedules and multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic math skills for portion control, inventory tracking, and meal planning purposes Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with residents or patients while serving meals This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to contribute to a caring environment while expanding their expertise in nutrition, food safety, and healthcare support.
