From $15.00 per hour Job description: Overview We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to join our healthcare facility team. This role involves providing high-quality meal service and support within a healthcare environment, ensuring that patients and residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a safe and hygienic manner. The ideal candidate will possess strong food handling skills, experience working with geriatric or hospitalized populations, and a commitment to workplace safety and sanitation standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care through exceptional food service and dietary support. Responsibilities Prepare, assemble, and serve meals according to dietary guidelines and patient preferences, ensuring timely delivery. Assist with food production tasks, including cooking, portioning, and plating meals while adhering to food safety standards. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food preparation surfaces in compliance with JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards. Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting, safe lifting practices, and food handling to support efficient meal service. Support dietary department operations by assisting with inventory management, food storage, and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all food handling and cleaning activities. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient or resident needs courteously and professionally. Follow workplace safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for staff and patients. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable. Knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, and sanitation practices. Experience working with geriatric patients or in dietary aide roles is preferred. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with food safety regulations such as JCAHO standards and proper handling procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safe lifting practices. Basic understanding of nutrition principles relevant to patient care. Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and customer service. Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a plus.
