Summary:

Under the direction of the Patient Services Manager or Assistant Director, performs essential food and nutrition duties associated with patient menu selection, tray and nourishment distribution, meal tray assembly and set up. Primary person in responsible for operation of kitchen in absence of management.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED Licensure:

None required

Experience:

Previous Nutrition Assistant experience required. Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and back of the house kitchen operations.

Skills and Abilities:

Skills in organization and priority setting. Manual dexterity and motor coordination Basic Computer skills. Ability to analyze problems and resolve them in a manner consistent with management expectations; to work independently and hold staff accountable to expectations set by management; to communicate effectively with patients, peers and other departments; to work collaboratively with nursing service and other departments; to be the lead person in handling requests and issues from patients, nursing, food service, and hospital staff in absence of management; to complete basic math calculations. Maintains confidential (HIPAA) information. Demonstrate customer service skills. Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Ability to objectively communicate the needs of the department and performance of peers to management. Ability to work hands on to assist in kitchen closing tasks as required. Ability to properly document and maintain department logs for management. Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at one time. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Ability to walk, sit, hear, speak, bend and reach. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching and reaching.
