II PRIMARY PURPOSE

Serve students attractive, safe, and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Certification:

Ability to understand instructions for food preparation and safety procedures. Must complete TASN Safety and Sanitation or other approved classes every three years. Must attend training required to comply with USDA Professional Standards.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Able to follow instructions and perform all duties in the school district kitchen with a congenial attitude. Maintain current food handler's certification appropriate to the work location. Ability to read English at a remedial level.

Minimum Experience:

None required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Able to read and follow instructions. Cooperate with supervisor, manager, and coworkers. Work at assigned duties determined by manager and be responsible for specific tasks. Follow standardized recipes and strive to produce quality products. Be familiar with different methods of food preparation or willing to learn. Plan and organize work in advance according to menu items and production records. Enjoy working with and be courteous to children. Meet emergencies with poise and self-confidence. Possess required speed to safely and efficiently produce quality products according to work schedules. Prepare and serve food for catering events when requested. Assist coworkers as needed until all work is finished for smooth operation. Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and good housekeeping practices. Be punctual and dependable. Assist in serving students and staff from serving lines. Help maintain storeroom, walk-in cooler, freezer, and garbage collection areas in neat and sanitary condition. Follow appropriate sanitation guidelines when preparing, serving, and cleaning utensils. Remove used dishes and assist in cleaning counters, tables, and furnishings in dining area. Perform all other duties assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Director of Student Nutrition Programs. Accept constructive criticism.

EQUIPMENT USED

Electric slicer. Mixer. Pressure steamer. Deep-fat fryer. Buffalo chopper. Ovens. Dishwasher. Food and utility carts. Other large and small kitchen equipment as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, pushing, pulling. Lifting and carrying. Stooping, bending, kneeling. Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted regularly. Lift 25-50 lbs with assistance.

Environment:

Moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Moderate exposure to noise. Some exposure to chemicals.

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional control. Accept constructive criticism. Work with frequent interruptions.

Pay Details:

$12.00 per Hour.

Background Requirements:
