A Dietary Aide works in kitchens such as hospital kitchens where cooking is done to meet specific dietary requirements. Assists with food preparation and other tasks.
Ability to read and interpret documents needed for accurate and efficient completion of duties. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions communicated in oral, written, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents/patients, staff, family members, vendors, suppliers, and other contacts, both inside and outside the facility. Must exhibit patience and a positive attitude towards the elderly population and a desire to provide a service to the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to full 8-hour shift; position rarely involved sitting). Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently (up to 66% of the time spent in performance of duties) and up to 50 pounds rarely (less than 33% of time spent in performance of duties). Manual dexterity that allows grasping, carrying, and holding equipment and supplies as needed to perform tasks. Ability to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel within the limits normally associated with daily activities, with or without corrective devices for sight and/or hearing. Ability to verbally communicate with residents, visitors, and staff members during performance of duties.
