GED Full Job Description Position Description:
Under supervision, the Dietary Aide performs a variety of dining room, kitchen and cleaning functions relating to the preparation and serving of meals to the Residents and staff of the Masonic Home of Virginia maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment. Collects menus from Residents; assisting Residents as necessary in completing menu selections. Corrects menus as prescribed by diet complying with dietary restrictions of special/modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met within the guidelines of diet order limitations; communicates any related problems/concerns to management. Ensures that the salad bar is kept well-stocked and clean. Assists in maintaining inventory and cleanliness in stock room. As established by department guidelines, checks and logs temperatures of all equipment (i.e., freezers, refrigerators, ovens, etc.). Operates and cleans dish machine and assigned equipment per department procedures including routine sanitizer solution and temperatures checks; reporting needed maintenance or repair. Delivers meals and nourishments; inventorying and recording supplies on units within established time frames following department procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, moving about in work area and throughout Home to accomplish tasks. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word, conveying information to others in an audible, accurate and, on occasion, quick manner. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers. Work requires visual acuity to read, prepare and analyze. Individual must be able to exert up to 60 pounds of force on occasion. Individual may be subject to temperature changes, but is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Qualifications:
Some knowledge of food service to include table serving and familiarity with sanitation and storage in a food service setting.
Licensure :
Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health certification in Serve Safe preferred. CPR certification.
