A Dietitian or Nutritionist provides clients with advice on healthy eating, and helps to plan nutritional menus. Works with individuals who have specific dietary needs, such as hospital patients, or oversees food programs in schools, hospitals, and other large organizations. May work in a community setting or non-profit, governmental, or public health organization, offering nutritional advice to specific groups of people.
Description To perform nutrition assessments and reassessments, determine medical nutrition therapy goals and desired outcomes, develop and implement nutrition care plans and nutrition interventions, provide nutrition education, and record timely and appropriate documentation in the medical record for research. May precept for the UAB Dietetic Internship Program, participate in quality improvement activities, and participate in medical team activities and rounds as assigned or as schedule allows.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1.Develops, implements, and monitors patient for research purposes. 2. Educates the patient and/or caregiver, dietetic interns and students, other healthcare personnel, and community representatives on nutrition, nutrition-related topics, and/or designated drug-nutrient interactions. 3. Participates on hospital and/or departmental committees and, as assigned and/or as schedule permits, participates in medical team activities such as team meetings, medical rounds, and/or meal rounds. 4. Participates in quality improvement activities. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range:
$45,395 - $73,770 Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Dietetics or related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed (active or temporary) as a Dietitian with the State of Alabama Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition Practice required.
