Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Dietary Director to lead our dietary services with passion and precision. In this vital role, you will oversee all aspects of food service operations within a healthcare or senior living environment, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, safe, and appealing meals that meet the highest standards of health regulation policies. Your leadership will inspire your team to excel in food production, patient assessment, and care plan implementation, fostering an environment of excellence and compassion. Duties Lead and manage the food service team, including supervising dietary staff, managing schedules, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Oversee food production processes to ensure meals are nutritious, appealing, and compliant with all health and safety regulations. Develop and implement care plans that incorporate clinical nutrition principles tailored to individual patient needs. Conduct patient assessments to determine dietary requirements, including specialized diets such as tube feeding or diagnostic evaluation needs. Ensure food safety management practices are followed rigorously in line with health regulation policies and health code compliance standards. Manage department budgets effectively, including food purchasing, inventory control, and cost analysis to optimize resources. Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation of care plans, nutritional assessments, and departmental reporting. Stay current with acute care practices, physiology knowledge, and food service health codes to maintain high standards of service delivery. Coordinate with healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans that integrate nutrition therapy into overall patient care strategies. Promote continuous staff development through training in food safety management, EMR/EHR use, and leadership skills. Experience Proven experience in assisted living or healthcare settings with a focus on dietary services or food management. Demonstrated supervisory experience managing food service teams within a dietary department environment. Strong background in clinical nutrition, dietetics, or related fields with knowledge of physiology and nutrition science. Familiarity with managing budgets within a food service or dietary department setting. Experience with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to nutrition and care plans. Knowledge of health regulation policies pertaining to food safety management and food service health code compliance. Prior experience in acute care environments is highly desirable for understanding complex patient needs. Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and develop appropriate care plans aligned with medical directives.
