Yes Location CountyErie Street AddressHunger Prevention Nutrition Assistance 295 Main Street, Ste. 300 CityBuffalo StateNY Zip Code14203 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionThe Public Health Nutritionist (PHN) 1 will be assigned to the Western Regional Office (WRO) and will provide Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) oversight for the Western Region. The position may supervise a lower-level HPNAP contract manager and will provide direct contract management and nutrition oversight of contract activities, which includes HPNAP, Nourish NY (NNY), and other nutrition assistance tasks. The PHN 1 will be responsible for supporting these food assistance program activities in the Buffalo, Rochester, and Elmira (Southern Tier) regions which include three Regional Food Banks and their nutritionist employees. This position will also assist in contract procurement, fiscal management, and program review (management evaluation) activities as they pertain to the Western Region. Minimum QualificationsPublic Minimum Qualifications (HELPS Program): A. You must be a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. AND B. you must have two years of full-time professional experience, after successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians, in the field of nutrition or dietetics.

Substitution:

A master's degree in, Health, Public Health, Public Administration, Health (Care/Services) Administration, Nutrition Education, Health Education, Community Health, Health Care Policy and Management, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work/Social Welfare, Human and Social Services, Early Childhood Education, or Public Policy may be substituted for one year of experience. Permanent Transfer Candidates:

Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Public Health Nutritionist 1.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have professional work experience related to nutrition education and monitoring nutrition program standards for contract agencies in public health nutrition programs to promote improved health status and food assistance for food insecure populations. The preferred candidate will also understand public health nutrition issues and have experience in assessing community nutrition related needs, and developing, implementing, marketing, and evaluating community nutrition programs. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, such as State agency staff, program contractors, and other organizations, as well as strong analytical and organizational skills are preferred. Microsoft Excel proficiency is also preferred. Candidates that are certified diabetes educators are also preferred.
