Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a public accounting team in Buffalo, New York. This position will lead tax operations across individual and business engagements while helping maintain strong compliance standards in a financial services environment. The ideal candidate brings deep technical tax knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to guide staff through evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation and review of individual and corporate tax filings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
• Supervise tax professionals by assigning work, providing feedback, and supporting ongoing development across the team.
• Monitor tax compliance activities and help ensure all filings align with current federal, state, and local regulations.
• Interpret new and changing tax rules and communicate practical guidance to staff and stakeholders.
• Oversee annual income tax provision work and confirm supporting schedules are prepared in accordance with applicable standards.
• Manage the use of tax software, including CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax, to support efficient reporting and compliance processes.
• Advise on entity formation considerations and related tax implications for business clients.
• Partner with internal leadership and clients to resolve tax issues, address notices, and improve overall tax planning efforts. Requirements
• 5+ years of public tax experience, including oversight of both individual and corporate return preparation.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring tax staff within a public accounting or services setting.
• Strong knowledge of tax compliance requirements and the ability to apply updated regulations effectively.
• Hands-on experience with annual income tax provision processes.
• Proficiency with CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax.
• Familiarity with corporate tax returns and business entity formation matters.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a high level of accuracy.
