Job Description

Duties Description As a Dietitian 2 you will be part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and will assist in the food and nutrition program operations including: Developing, planning, and approving diets and menus. Consulting with healthcare providers on individual diet therapy programs to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions. Identifying and recommending activities to improve and maintain individuals' nutritional health. Providing nutritional care instructions and information to individuals. As a Dietitian 2 you will also be responsible for: 1. Dietary assessments for referred patients (referred by family NP, Psychiatrist, or primary clinician) 2. Dietary counseling/ education (one time or ongoing depending on need and patient preference/ engagement) 3. Group dietary counseling 4. Joining each clinic's team meetings 5. Liaising with clinical team members to provide feedback 6. Documenting all services Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Dietitian 2 if they have: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD. OR Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment. Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
