General Public - G Job Duties The Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) is seeking a Nutritionist Associate to join our dedicated WIC Team. This position supports families across Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties, as well as the City of Charlottesville. About the Role As a Nutritionist Associate, you will play a key role in delivering services through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. You'll work directly with clients to assess nutritional needs, provide education, and support healthy outcomes for families in our community.Key responsibilities include:
Nutrition Education:
Interview clients, assess dietary and health risks, determine eligibility, and provide tailored nutrition education in individual or group settings.Nutrition Support:
Encourage continued participation in nutrition plans, distribute educational materials and supplies, and support clients in understanding WIC policies and benefits.Program Support:
Register clients, determine eligibility, maintain accurate records, and help ensure a welcoming, efficient, and client-centered clinic environment. This position will require travel across the district and may require participation in emergency response efforts as needed. Why Work for BRHD? This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the WIC Client Services and WIC Nutrition Education for a year period ending September 30, 2026, pending federal government. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds. Benefits of Working atVDH:

Minimum Qualifications Basic knowledge of nutrition and nutritional standards Ability to conduct interviews and collect information Ability to interpret, document, calculate, and compile routine data Experience providing patient education and/or communicating information to individuals Good communication skills, verbally and in writing, to interact with a variety of patients, peers, and supervisors Ability to work effectively individually and as a team member Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing workloads Skills using computer systems Additional Considerations Training, job experience, or coursework in Nutrition, Dietetics, food services, or a related area preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred Experience obtaining blood samples/finger sticks, and taking heights and weights of individualsPay:
