Job Description

Harsha Behavioral Center is searching for a dynamic and compassionate Director of Nursing to join our executive team. This is a pivotal role for a leader dedicated to clinical excellence, strategic growth, and fostering a culture of hope and healing. About Harsha Behavioral Center Harsha Behavioral Center is a mental health facility in Terre Haute, Indiana, dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to our community. Our 81-bed facility specializes in comprehensive, innovative inpatient psychiatric services for individuals in crisis, providing essential care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. We are committed to fostering a safe, healing space that emphasizes compassion, innovation, and holistic well-being. Your Impact as DON As the DON, you will be the driving force behind our clinical care delivery. You will lead and mentor clinical staff, ensuring the highest standards of patient care are met and maintained across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for all clinical patient care staff, which includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), an Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Quality.
Clinical Excellence:
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing and patient care policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest quality and safety for our patients and staff.
Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and inspire the entire clinical care team. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth, engagement, and patient-centered care for all clinical staff.
Quality & Compliance:
Champion all performance improvement and quality assurance activities. Ensure continuous readiness and compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, state, and federal regulations.
Operational Management:
Oversee departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation for all nursing and MHT staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or a related field is strongly preferred.
Licensure:
A current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana (or eligibility to obtain one).
Experience:
3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health hospital setting is required. Previous experience as a CNO, ADON or Director of Nursing is highly desirable.
Skills:
