Job Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for managing nursing operations, developing care plans, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The DON will work closely with other healthcare professionals to promote a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient safety and well-being. Responsibilities Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and adherence to best practices. Review documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients based on their unique needs. Maintain knowledge of Medicare guidelines and MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements to ensure proper documentation and reimbursement processes. Lead nursing staff meetings to discuss updates, policies, and patient care strategies. Foster a culture of continuous improvement through training and professional development opportunities for nursing staff. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and streamline healthcare delivery. Ensure that all nursing practices align with current medical terminology and standards of care. Experience A valid nursing license (RN) with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a clinical setting, including supervisory roles. Proven experience in documentation review, care plan development, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, Medicare policies, and MDS assessments. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively while promoting a positive work environment. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
