Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

A busy skilled nursing and long-term care community is seeking Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs) to help strengthen nursing operations, develop staff, and support the Director of Nursing. We're open to experienced ADONs as well as accomplished Nurse Managers, Unit Managers, Infection Preventionists, Wound Care Nurses, Clinical Educators, and other RN leaders who are ready to advance. About the Opportunity This is a fast-paced skilled nursing environment with a significant Medicare Part A population , resulting in frequent admissions and discharges and a clinically active resident population. We're building a nursing leadership team with complementary strengths . One successful ADON may be particularly strong clinically and enjoy education, complex care, and developing nurses. Another may bring strengths in compliance, infection prevention, auditing, quality assurance, and operational consistency. You don't have to fit perfectly into one category. We're interested in learning where you're strongest and how those skills can contribute to the nursing leadership team. Clinical & Education-Focused ADON Are you the nurse other nurses turn to when they encounter a difficult clinical situation? We're particularly interested in nursing leaders with experience in: ICU or acute care Wound care and skin management Ventilator management Tracheostomy care Respiratory or complex clinical care Clinical education Staff development This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is clinically strong and also knows how to teach . You'll have the opportunity to challenge nurses clinically, introduce new approaches to education and training, and help staff become more confident managing complex resident needs. Compliance & Quality-Focused ADON We're also interested in nursing leaders who excel at creating structure, consistency, and accountability .
Relevant experience may include:
Infection prevention and infection control Compliance auditing Quality assurance Regulatory compliance Clinical documentation review Survey preparation Policy and procedure adherence Staff education and in-services Clinical monitoring Corrective action and follow-through If you're the type of nurse who notices when something isn't being done consistently—and knows how to put a system in place to fix it—your skills could be particularly valuable. Key Responsibilities As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you'll work closely with the DON and nursing leadership team to support the overall operation of nursing services. Assist the DON with planning, developing, and supervising nursing operations. Help oversee licensed and non-licensed nursing staff. Conduct daily clinical rounds. Monitor resident conditions, safety, and quality of care. Coach, mentor, and educate nursing employees. Assist with nursing recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training. Support employee evaluations and performance-management processes. Provide clinical education and staff in-services. Participate in infection prevention and regulatory compliance initiatives. Assist with audits, quality assurance, and survey readiness. Monitor nursing documentation and adherence to established policies. Identify opportunities to improve nursing systems and care-delivery processes. Communicate with residents, families, physicians, staff, and interdisciplinary team members. Provide direct resident care when necessary. Serve as a resource and backup to the Director of Nursing. Help improve nursing stability, staff development, and retention. Remain current on regulatory requirements affecting nursing operations. You Don't Have to Already Be an ADON We're willing to consider strong nursing leaders who are ready for their next step.

Bonus & Incentive Opportunities In addition to the overall employment package, qualified candidates may be considered for several incentives: Sign-on / onboarding incentive may be available Relocation assistance of up to approximately $5,000 may be available , depending on individual circumstances Potential retention incentive of approximately $5,000 upfront Potential additional $5,000 retention incentive after six months , based on agreed-upon performance and retention expectations Final incentive arrangements will depend on candidate qualifications and the individual employment agreement.
