Responsibilities of Assistant Director of Nursing:

Provide leadership, mentorship, and daily oversight for nursing managers, charge nurses, and clinical staff. Partner with the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care across multiple nursing units. Oversee day-to-day nursing operations while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory standards. Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical excellence, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness. Supervise staffing, scheduling, employee performance, coaching, and staff development. Monitor clinical documentation, care plans, MDS completion, and EMR accuracy to ensure timely regulatory compliance. Conduct daily clinical rounds, support nursing staff, address family concerns, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration. Investigate incidents, medication variances, complaints, and quality concerns while implementing corrective action plans. Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation professionals, educators, and leadership to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Assist with departmental budgeting, supply management, policy development, and continuous performance improvement initiatives. Promote a positive culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and clinical excellence throughout the nursing department. Participate in employee education, orientation, competency validation, and leadership development programs.

Requirements of Assistant Director of Nursing:

Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License. Master's Degree in Nursing (Required). Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field. Minimum of five (5) years of Registered Nurse experience. At least three (3) years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience. Previous experience in pediatric, rehabilitation, long-term care, behavioral health, or complex care settings is strongly preferred. Current BLS and PALS certifications. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience managing regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary clinical teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining a compassionate, patient-focused approach.
