Qualifications Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, which confers RN, AD or diploma in Nursing Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multi-state license Two+ years nursing supervisory required. Prefer experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations. Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information. The positions are responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 05-18. Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures, the Nurse Practice Act, and maintain patient safety.
Essential Functions:
Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum. Facilitates the patient and family's right to receive safe, quality, and cost effective care. Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care and information. Demonstrates a commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients, families, and Staff. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient or Staff outcomes. Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues. Demonstrates the use of nursing process as a problem-solving model. Demonstrates a mastery of clinical skills related to patient's mental health and physical health needs. Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines and participates as an effective member of the patient care team to formulate an integrated approach to care. Demonstrates leadership behaviors and is committed to the development of self and others. Leads unit staff by example.
