New York, NY Job Details Contract $45 - $55 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Medical documentation Collaboration BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Associate's degree Full Job Description Overview for Electrophysiology Device Technician Winston Staffing has a contract assignment available for an Electrophysiology Device Technician who can support the safe performance of MRI examinations for patients with MR-conditional cardiac implantable electronic devices (CEIDs). This role is limited to MR-conditional device scanning only. The Electrophysiology Device Technician will work collaboratively with MRI Technologists, nursing staff, radiologists, electrophysiology providers, scheduling teams and device manufacturers to ensure that patients are appropriately screened, cleared, programmed, monitored and returned to baseline device settings in accordance with CNYPAI policy, manufacturer requirements and applicable clinical standards. Responsibilities for Electrophysiology Device Technician Review patient device information prior to MRI scheduling or performance to confirm whether the device system is MR-conditional. Verify device type, manufacturer, model, leads, implant date, and MR-conditional status using available documentation and approved manufacturer resources. Confirm that the device and lead combination meets manufacturer-specific MR-conditional requirements. Identify device-related exclusions or restrictions, including abandoned leads, fractured leads, non-compatible components, recent implantation, battery status concerns, or other manufacturer limitations. Document device review findings and communicate clearance status to the appropriate scheduling, clinical, and MRI operations teams. Escalate any uncertain, incomplete, or non-conditional device cases to the appropriate electrophysiology provider or hospital-based program. Day-of-Scan Device Management Perform pre-scan device interrogation for patients with confirmed MR-conditional devices. Confirm device function, battery status, lead integrity, pacing dependency considerations, and appropriateness for MRI mode. Program the device into the manufacturer-recommended MRI-safe mode prior to the MRI examination. Communicate device programming status and relevant precautions to the MRI technologist and nursing team before the scan begins. Remain available during the MRI examination in accordance with CNYPAI workflow and escalation protocols. Perform post-scan device interrogation immediately after the MRI examination. Restore the device to its pre-scan settings or clinically appropriate baseline settings. Confirm and document that the device is functioning appropriately after completion of the MRI. Patient Safety and Interdisciplinary Coordination Collaborate with nursing staff responsible for patient monitoring during MRI. Coordinate with MRI technologists to ensure device-related MRI conditions are understood before scanning. Communicate any device-related concerns that may affect patient safety, scan timing, or scan eligibility. Participate in pre-scan huddles or case reviews for patients with complex device considerations. Follow established emergency escalation pathways if device concerns, patient symptoms, or unexpected findings occur. Ensure that patients who do not meet MR-conditional criteria are not scanned at CNYPAI under the conditional device workflow. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate documentation of device review, interrogation, MRI programming, post-scan reprogramming, and final device status. Document manufacturer, model, lead information, MRI mode settings, pre- and post-scan parameters, and any relevant restrictions. Ensure documentation is completed in the appropriate electronic medical record, device system, or operational tracking system. Support compliance with CNYPAI policies, manufacturer MR-conditional labeling, MRI safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Participate in quality assurance activities related to MR-conditional device scanning. Report workflow issues, safety concerns, or near misses through appropriate operational and safety channels. Operational Support Support scheduling teams by reviewing device cases in advance and helping determine whether the patient is eligible for scanning at CNYPAI. Maintain communication with device manufacturers and electrophysiology contacts as needed. Assist with maintaining current manufacturer guidance and device reference materials. Support development and refinement of CNYPAI workflows, checklists, and standard operating procedures for MR-conditional device scanning. Provide education to MRI, nursing, and scheduling teams regarding device workflow requirements, within the scope of the role. Support continuity of operations by ensuring timely review and communication of device clearance status. Requirements for Electrophysiology Device Technician High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred. Prior experience with cardiac implantable electronic devices required. Experience with pacemaker, ICD, CRT, and loop recorder interrogation and programming preferred. Experience working with major device manufacturers, including Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Biotronik preferred. Knowledge of MR-conditional device requirements and manufacturer-specific MRI workflows preferred. Experience in an electrophysiology, cardiology, device clinic, or hospital-based device program preferred. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within the required onboarding period. Preferred Qualifications Certification or formal training in cardiac rhythm device technology, electrophysiology, or cardiac device management. Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) Experience supporting MRI workflows for patients with MR-conditional CIEDs. Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic medical record systems. Experience working in a hospital, outpatient imaging center, electrophysiology lab, or device clinic. Strong understanding of MRI safety principles as they relate to cardiac implantable electronic devices. #IND123
