Job Description The Harborview Operating Rooms have an outstanding opportunity for an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 2 (Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Specialist).
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Full-Time / 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Specialist (Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 2) supports the attending surgeon and attending anesthesiologist by performing tests, monitoring, and examination duties.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Confirm modalities for surgical monitoring requested by surgeon and attending neurophysiologist.
  • Review all neuromonitoring procedural contraindications based on patient history and surgeon orders.
  • Suggest anesthetic preferences based on policy and procedures and attending neurophysiologist and communicate them with the anesthesia team.
  • Document appropriate surgical procedures and physiologic information, and communicate with the surgical team per policy and procedure guidelines and at the request of the attending neurophysiologist.
  • Prepare, maintain, and modify electronic equipment and software used for intraoperative neuromonitoring.
  • Record and analyze complex computer-averaged electrical responses of the eyes, ears, peripheral nerves, spinal cord and brain, as well as responses from muscle groups, to appropriate stimuli in the operating room
  • Apply a variety of electrodes for electroneurodiagnostic testing and other electrophysiologic recordings, including those from the exposed brain during neurosurgical procedures
  • Record electrical activity using standard montages following departmental guidelines; document recording parameters, technical and clinical observations on the recording; recognize, monitor, and/or eliminate artifacts; identify technical and physiologic problems during procedures in complex environments, troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist training program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation AND one year of experience in a laboratory performing clinical electroneurodiagnostic tests OR equivalent education/experience.
