Job Description

Overview:
This is an application for Superior's Indiana EMT Classes - upon successful advancement through the pre-screening process, EMT Class enrollment decisions will be made. Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. We are looking for highly motivated and self-driven candidates to join the EMS Industry. We are offering an on-site 15 week EMT Student Program that will educate students and prepare them to challenge the National Registry Exam and become an Indiana Licensed EMT. All materials are covered by Superior Ambulance Service (SAS). Upon receiving their Indiana EMT licensure, the student will be hired as a full time employee and be required to complete a one year [12 months] commitment of continuous full time employment. There is NO cost for the selected students to attend the class unless they are unable to complete the 12 months of employment after licensure.
Responsibilities:
EMT Certification Program (approximately 15 weeks, 3 days per week) that will educate and prepare you to successfully complete the National Registry Exam to become a licensed EMT. Direct employment is provided by Superior Ambulance after successful completion of the class and passing the national exam per agreement. Our 280 hour class will provide hands on training that will assist prospective candidates with obtaining their National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and state licenses. Within this 3-4 month course you will learn skills related but not limited to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicle operations, airway management, cardiac emergencies, pharmacology, pediatrics, trauma, and obstetrics.
Qualifications:
Required A valid unrestricted driver's license with 1 year of driving experience, satisfactory driving record, and able to safely operate a vehicle in various conditions, including daytime, nighttime and inclement weather. 18 years of age or older. High School diploma or GED. Admission will be approved based on an entrance assessment and other pre-screening steps. Preferred Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care. Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence. Past training in healthcare related fields, or Military experience is welcomed but not necessary. Other qualifications/certifications specific to the local operation and/or contract requirements. Superior Ambulance Service is committed to attracting and retaining the best talent.
