Overview Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, and the medical direction of the Labor and Delivery Physician. Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. What you will do Demonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served. ( i.e. surgical, med surg, critical care, ED, specialty unit). Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team, utilizing SBAR process when applicable. Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards. Demonstrate flexibility and sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput throughout the facility. Responds to patient needs timely. Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community. Works to link needs of patient population with community resource. Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks to facilitate quality patient care and ensure all patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Monitor/supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department. Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Maintains a safe patient care environment by complying with RHS policies/procedures/regulatory requirements that support National Safety Patient Goals and Quality Initiatives. Recognizes and reports variances and provides resolutions. Supports and/or provides suggestions for cost containment. Provides feedback in new equipment/product evaluations; identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings and waste reduction. Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed. Engages new team members to create a supportive environment. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED, (Required) Program Graduate, Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician training course (Preferred) Experience 1 year L&D Technician Experience (PRN Status Only) (Required) Licenses and Certifications Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required) or Military Experience
  • US Military Equivalent military experience in lieu of EMT certification will be accepted (i.e., medical technician or corpsman) Upon Hire(Required) and CPR/BLS Certification
  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and ACLS Provider
  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 90 Days(Required) and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
