as needed to other locations Responsibilities The Urgent Care Tech will primarily be assigned to deliver urgent care to ICC and Express Care patients. As such, the incumbent must be experienced in working with high acuity patients in a fast-paced medical environment. Supports nursing and medical staff with the care of Immediate/Express Care patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, or Physician. By providing this vital support to patients and medical staff, Patient Care Technicians streamline the delivery of medical care and improve the patient's overall comfort, experience, and care outcomes at the ICC and Express Care locations. The Urgent Care Tech provides direct care to assigned patients, partnering with the RN on duty to coordinate care. Under the direction of a licensed practitioner and according to established procedures performs patient care tasks and procedures as needed to ensure care, comfort, and safety of patients. Effectively explains and performs assigned procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion and removal, vital signs, etc. Receive and triage patients in the ICC or Express care assessing and evaluating the urgency of the patient symptoms and need for medical attention. Will determine if patient need can be addressed at ICC or transferred to higher acuity facility. Completes patient rounds and responds to phone, nurse and physician requests to ensure that patient and family needs are met in a timely manner Performs delivery of patient care; draws blood, starts IVs, may administer prescribed injections, assist with ambulation and transfer, specimen collection for urine, sputum, feces and phlebotomy; acquisition of 12-lead EKG's; assisting patients with personal care needs, documentation of clinical tests results; completion of all daily/weekly/monthly checklists; performance of wound asepsis. Performs assigned procedures and communicated with patients regarding the process. (e.g. wound care and dressing changes, Intravenous insertion, blood draws and removal, and specimen collection). Application of orthopedic splints, and temporary casting and educating patients on proper crutch/walker/cane usage. Assists Physicians/Mid-level providers with suturing, simple dressings, wound cleansing, post molds set up, and other procedural set ups as directed. Responds to call lights and assist with activities of daily living Patient quality improvement and documentation of treatment Participation in quality improvement and sustainability activities Completes and documents patient care activities including: triage assessments into EPIC, ADL, vital signs, weights, and procedure/treatments that were performed Maintains inventory and department cleanliness Monitors, requests, and re-stocks patient rooms, storage, service areas, and/or Triage with supplies, ensuring adequate levels are maintained Requests and stores approved supplies and linens according to established procedures Checks assigned daily carts and signs off. Empties and/or replace waste receptacles/needle bins Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent EMT-Paramedic Certification required CPR Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certifications a plus Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an acute care environment is required. Acute care environment includes Emergency Room, Immediate Care Center, or Ambulance. At least 1-2 years of experience starting IVs, drawing blood, and administering injections. May be required to complete Phlebotomy certification within 6 months of employment. The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $21.43-23.63 for a Medical Assistant; Certified or Registered Medical Assistant the base pay range is $22.97-24.57; EMT-P's is $20.59-30.89/hour with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
