As a Level I Emergency and Critical Care facility , we provide advanced care for critically ill and injured dogs and cats throughout Southeast Michigan. The Opportunity We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our overnight Emergency and Critical Care team. This full-time position consists of three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your technical abilities and clinical observations directly influence patient care. Our overnight LVTs are essential members of the medical team. You will work alongside emergency doctors, board-certified criticalists, fellow credentialed technicians, veterinary assistants, and support staff while caring for a diverse caseload ranging from urgent presentations to critically ill ICU patients. Put Your Skills to Work Responsibilities may include: Assessing and triaging emergency patients Monitoring hospitalized and critically ill patients Performing venipuncture and placing intravenous catheters Collecting and processing laboratory samples Administering medications, fluids, and constant-rate infusions Performing accurate medical calculations Monitoring oxygen-dependent patients Assisting with blood transfusions and advanced procedures Preparing for and assisting with emergency surgery Monitoring sedation and anesthesia Obtaining diagnostic-quality radiographs Recognizing changes in patient status and communicating concerns promptly Maintaining thorough and accurate medical records Participating in CPR and emergency stabilization Communicating compassionately with pet owners during stressful situations Your responsibilities will be matched to your experience, with training and mentorship provided to help you expand your emergency and critical care skills.
