Founded in 2007, we aim to protect children and preserve families around the world by providing alternative, family-based care for children who are abandoned, abused, and exploited. Daughter Project Girls Home (DPGH) is a branch of Global Family that provides crisis and intervention care for individuals who are identified as commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), homeless, runaways, or otherwise in need of short-term shelter and care. The shelter home provides specialized services that meet the complex needs of CSEC as well as a safe environment conducive to healing from any trauma. DPGH is a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) which means it is an intensive-care living facility for adolescent females who have high emotional and mental health needs. We are a facility which focuses on recovery for females who have experienced (or are at high risk of experiencing) Child Sexual Exploitation. Staff engage in trauma-informed care practices, including positive reinforcement and client-centered problem solving. Facility guidelines are set by both state and county agencies, and the ability to balance attention to both administrative detail and caring for the girls is essential to the work. Staff must be prepared to de-escalate stressful situations and respond to situations with appropriate procedures. Successful candidates need to possess a valid CA driving license, along with providing a current dmv record report, and must undergo an extensive criminal background check by the State of California, Department of Social Services (CDSS) prior to hire. Candidates who are not already listed in the state background clearance system will need to submit for this clearance at their own expense (currently costing around $120) with reimbursement for background check fees issued by DPGH after 30 days of gainful employment. Location Bakersfield, California Position The Mental Health Therapist at the Daughter Project Girls Home Short-term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) will be working directly with our clients, which includes assessments, treatment planning, monitoring behavior, providing interventions to help them meet treatment goals, resident skill-building, and providing therapeutic services. The Mental Health Therapist will work with the Head of Service to ensure clients are provided with services requested by the DPGH and Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (KBHRS). Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate working knowledge of crisis management skills and can perform such skills, as necessary. Demonstrate a basic working knowledge of behavioral sciences and related issues. Provide individual and group therapy to clients on caseload. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate rapport with participants, direct care staff, and other mental health professionals working with the participant. policy and procedure guidelines. Helps Head of Service with ensuring client's safety plans and needs and service plans are updated as necessary. Is comfortable working with participants and service coordinators from various cultures and is sensitive to cross-cultural issues including differences in race, ethnicity, religious, and sexual preference. Will complete a minimum of 20 hours a year in continuing education in areas relating to mental health. Familiar with requirements to report abuse. Assist Head of Service in implementing de-escalating techniques with a client when in crisis. Is familiar with the participant's rights. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications A licensed mental health professional (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) or associate mental health professional (ACSW, AMFT, APCC) with active BBS registration (clinical supervision is provided to associates). Valid California Driver's License in good standing Clearance of our background check process, which includes fingerprinting, a physical and TB Test. A positive attitude and desire to work with teens with intensive needs in a group home setting.
