Job Description
Associate Therapist (AMFT) Pacific Shores Recovery Newport Beach, California (On-Site) Full-Time Join a Team That Invests in Clinical Excellence Pacific Shores Recovery is a family-owned behavioral healthcare organization dedicated to helping individuals overcome substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Position Summary Pacific Shores Recovery is seeking a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for associate therapists to gain meaningful clinical experience while working toward licensure under qualified supervision. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, enjoys both individual and group therapy, and values collaboration within a structured treatment environment. This position provides exposure to clients across multiple levels of care, allowing associates to strengthen their assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and therapeutic intervention skills. Primary Responsibilities Facilitate psychoeducational, process, and skills-based therapy groups (approximately 8-10 hours per week) Maintain an individual therapy caseload of approximately 8-12 clients Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team Complete all required clinical documentation, including: Progress notes Individual and group therapy documentation Utilization Review (UR) documentation Insurance authorization support Discharge summaries Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical case consultations Assist with discharge planning and aftercare recommendations Provide crisis intervention and clinical support as needed Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, admissions, and leadership to ensure continuity of care Maintain ethical, professional, and regulatory standards in accordance with BBS, DHCS, and organizational policies Minimum Qualifications Active California Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) registration (or higher clinical licensure) Minimum one year of experience in residential treatment, PHP, IOP, or a comparable behavioral health setting preferred Experience working with clients experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions Knowledge of treatment planning, clinical documentation, and behavioral healthcare standards Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team Commitment to ongoing learning, supervision, and professional growth Preferred Skills Experience facilitating both psychoeducational and process groups Familiarity with utilization review and insurance authorization processes Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Motivational Interviewing (MI) Relapse Prevention Trauma-Informed Care Ability to build therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills Adaptability within a fast-paced treatment environment What We Offer Individual and group supervision toward licensure Collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team Direct clinical experience with substance use and co-occurring disorders Opportunities for professional growth and continued clinical development Accessible leadership committed to quality care and staff success A positive, accountable workplace culture focused on client outcomes Compensation Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, clinical background, and licensure status.
