Schedule:

Monday through Friday. Employees work an 8-hour shift, with schedule options of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., based on program and client-care needs. A one-hour meal period is provided.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, accountable, and clinically strong Therapist to join our growing outpatient behavioral-health team. This full-time, in-person role primarily provides individual therapy to adults ages 18 and older experiencing substance-use disorders, co-occurring mental-health conditions, and varying levels of psychosocial complexity. Group therapy facilitation may be assigned based on program needs. We are building a clinically grounded, collaborative treatment environment where therapists are supported in providing ethical, evidence-based care while continuing to grow professionally. The ideal candidate is confident in establishing therapeutic boundaries, delivering trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment, managing an active caseload, and maintaining high-quality clinical documentation that supports medical necessity, client progress, and continuity of care.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and level-of-care reviews to identify client strengths, needs, risks, and treatment priorities. Develop, implement, review, and update individualized treatment plans that reflect client goals, clinical needs, measurable progress, barriers to treatment, and discharge-planning needs. Utilize DSM-5 criteria to support accurate diagnoses, appropriate treatment recommendations, medical necessity, and level-of-care decisions. Provide ongoing individual therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented approaches. Facilitate group therapy sessions as assigned based on client and program needs. Maintain a consistent outpatient caseload and meet established expectations for client contact, follow-up, attendance outreach, continuity of care, and clinical documentation. Complete progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, care-coordination documentation, and other required records accurately and within established agency and payer deadlines, generally within 24 hours of service delivery. Document interventions, client response, progress toward treatment goals, barriers to progress, medical necessity, and the ongoing need for the current level of care. Assess and respond appropriately to safety concerns, including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, relapse risk, abuse or neglect concerns, and other crisis situations, in accordance with agency policy, ethical standards, and applicable reporting requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and outside providers, when appropriate and with proper authorization, to coordinate care and support positive client outcomes. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all ethical, legal, organizational, regulatory, payer, and professional standards. Use Kipu or a comparable behavioral-health electronic health record to document services, maintain client records, and support continuity of care.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral-health field. Active California licensure or associate registration in good standing as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, AMFT, ASW, or APCC. Experience providing individual therapy in an outpatient behavioral-health, mental-health, substance-use-disorder, or co-occurring-disorders setting is preferred. Knowledge of substance-use disorders, mental-health disorders, co-occurring presentations, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented treatment. Strong working knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, clinical assessment, treatment planning, documentation standards, and medical-necessity requirements. Strong written communication, clinical judgment, organizational, collaboration, and time-management skills. Ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries and timely follow-up. Familiarity with electronic health records is required; experience with Kipu or a similar behavioral-health EHR is preferred.

Associate Clinician Support:

AMFTs, ASWs, and APCCs are encouraged to apply. We provide BBS-compliant clinical supervision for eligible associate clinicians working toward independent licensure. Supervision includes ongoing clinical guidance, case consultation, documentation support, professional development, and required supervision tracking.
