Job Description
Play Therapist / Child & Family Therapist Transformative Counseling and Wellness | Longwood, FL Transformative Counseling and Wellness is a growing private practice seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) with specialized experience and genuine passion for working with children and families . We are looking for a clinician who understands that children often communicate through play, creativity, movement, and behavior rather than words alone. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with children as young as 3 years old and have strong clinical skills in developmentally appropriate, play-based interventions. What You'll Do Provide individual therapy to children, adolescents, and families Work with children 3+ Utilize developmentally appropriate play-based therapeutic interventions Incorporate sand tray, therapeutic toys, games, art, creative activities, and other experiential techniques into treatment Develop strong therapeutic relationships with children who may have difficulty communicating through traditional talk therapy Work with parents/caregivers to support children's emotional, behavioral, and relational development Provide parent guidance and psychoeducation as clinically appropriate Treat a variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, family/parent-child relationship concerns, and adjustment issues Complete timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation Collaborate with other providers within the practice when appropriate Participate in clinical consultation and/or supervision as applicable What We're Looking ForRequired Current Florida LMHC license OR Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) status Strong interest and demonstrated competency in working with children Comfortable providing therapy to children as young as3 Experience using play-based and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions Ability to effectively engage children who may be reluctant, highly active, anxious, or have difficulty expressing themselves verbally Strong communication and documentation skills Warm, patient, creative, and engaging therapeutic style Ability to establish positive working relationships with parents and caregivers Professionalism, reliability, and strong clinical judgment Especially Valuable We would be particularly interested in candidates with training or experience in: Child-centered play therapy Sand tray therapy Filial therapy or parent-child interventions Trauma-focused therapy with children Attachment-focused therapy Art or expressive therapies
