Job Description
Primary Therapist - PHP/IOP The Carter Treatment Center & Imagine Wellness Centers is seeking a Primary Therapist to provide direct clinical services to adults in our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs. In this role, you'll carry a caseload and provide individual, group, and family/collateral therapy while coordinating care within a multidisciplinary treatment team. This is a great fit for a clinician who brings strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and the ability to work with high-acuity psychiatric and substance use populations in a fast-paced behavioral health setting. What You'll Do Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop clinically appropriate diagnoses Build individualized treatment plans with patients and the treatment team, and complete reviews and updates as clinically indicated Conduct weekly individual therapy sessions and collateral contacts (family, referral sources, outside providers, support systems) Facilitate weekly group sessions — psychoeducational, process, and skills-based Coordinate discharge planning from admission through the end of treatment, including aftercare referrals and continuity of care Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and collaborate with medical, nursing, case management, and housing staff Assess and respond to crises, including risk assessments for suicidality, homicidality, withdrawal, relapse, and safety Participate in a rotating clinical on-call schedule (evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays) and provide after-hours consultation to housing and program staff Maintain timely, accurate documentation that meets organizational, state, and payer requirements What You'll Need Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field Professional clinical license, or license-eligible status (licensure required within six months of hire) Strong communication, organization, and crisis management skills Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, and other evidence-based interventions Ability to independently manage a caseload and documentation requirements Preferred Experience in PHP and/or IOP settings Experience with co-occurring disorders and high-acuity or dual diagnosis populations Schedule Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with some flexibility based on patient care needs, plus rotating on-call coverage.
