Job Summary:
Gain invaluable, hands-on clinical and behavioral experience supporting individuals with special needs in a specialized inpatient setting. This role is ideal for psychology graduates looking to build a robust foundation for a career in mental health, counseling, or clinical psychology by working directly within multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Core Responsibilities Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
Participate in daily clinical meetings with behavior teams to evaluate, discuss, and refine patient treatment plans.
Behavioral Intervention:
Actively implement evidence-based behavioral treatment procedures and track clinical data to monitor patient progress.
Patient-Centered Care:
Assist individuals with daily living tasks while upholding the highest standards of patient dignity, respect, and privacy.
Clinical Problem-Solving:
Identify behavioral and operational challenges, proactively contributing strategies and solutions within a team environment.
Professional Development:
Apply sound time-management and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare colleagues and clinical staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the H iring for E mergency L imited P lacement ( HELP ) Program, during this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Mental Health Therapy Aide, SG09 title. For consideration for this title, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications: 1 : Graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related human services field. Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism in high-acuity environments. Physical capability to safely manage patients and participate in active clinical settings.
