The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in trauma and PTSD treatment and understands that effective trauma therapy requires more than discussing symptoms or teaching generic coping skills. We are looking for a clinician who is curious about what drives clients' responses and is motivated to work with attachment patterns, nervous-system activation, traumatic memory, dissociation, identity, grief, and the effects of chronic stress. This position is especially well suited to a clinician who wants to deepen their trauma-treatment skills. Previous EMDR training is welcome but not required. Int Psych is willing to support formal EMDR training for the right candidate. The clinician must, however, be genuinely motivated to learn, able to work independently, and willing to take responsibility for developing and applying new clinical skills. About Our Practice Int Psych is an insurance-based outpatient practice specializing in trauma, attachment, chronic stress, and complex emotional concerns. We serve veterans, military-connected families, first responders, helping professionals, children, adolescents, young adults, and other clients whose needs may not have been adequately addressed through traditional talk therapy alone. Our approach is integrative and primarily bottom-up. Our clinicians may draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, Brainspotting, somatic approaches, ACT, mindfulness-based therapies, CPT, psychodynamic therapy, and attachment-focused treatment. The Position The Wilmington clinician will provide assessment and ongoing psychotherapy for concerns such as: Post-traumatic stress disorder Complex and developmental trauma Military and combat-related trauma Military sexual trauma Moral injury and service-related grief Traumatic loss Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress Dissociation and emotional dysregulation Attachment and relationship difficulties Childhood and adolescent trauma Family disruption related to deployment, reintegration, relocation, injury, or disability Identity and adjustment concerns among adolescents and young adults Transitions from military to civilian life Caregiver and military-family stress The clinician must be able and willing to provide regular in-person services from our Wilmington office. Telehealth may be incorporated into the schedule, but this is not a fully remote position. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed clinical assessments Diagnose PTSD and related conditions accurately and appropriately Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans Provide trauma-focused psychotherapy to veterans, military-connected clients, children, adolescents, young adults, and adults Assess for dissociation, suicidality, self-harm, substance use, abuse, safety concerns, and the need for a higher level of care Establish adequate stabilization, rapport, and emotional safety before beginning trauma processing Maintain timely, accurate, and insurance-compliant documentation Coordinate care with parents, caregivers, schools, medical providers, or other professionals when clinically appropriate and properly authorized Participate in clinical consultation and practice meetings as required Complete agreed-upon trauma and military-culture training Seek consultation appropriately while remaining capable of managing routine clinical responsibilities independently Collaborate respectfully with administrative, billing, and clinical staff Maintain all professional, ethical, legal, and licensure requirements Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher in social work, clinical mental health counseling, or a closely related behavioral-health field Current, unrestricted, and independently issued North Carolina license as an LCSW or LCMHC License must be active and in good standing Applicants with associate, provisional, temporary, or dependent licenses will not be considered Demonstrated clinical experience assessing and treating PTSD, trauma-related conditions, or complex trauma Ability and willingness to provide regular in-person services in Wilmington Experience or genuine interest in working with children, adolescents, and young adults Ability to establish developmentally appropriate rapport with younger clients Strong clinical judgment regarding stabilization, trauma processing, safety, and level-of-care needs Comfort working within an insurance-based practice, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and medical-necessity documentation Strong written communication, organization, and time-management skills Ability to manage a caseload and complete documentation without frequent reminders Willingness to actively pursue additional trauma-treatment skills and integrate training into clinical practice The Right Learning Style We are happy to invest in a promising clinician's development, including supporting EMDR training.
