Overview We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated After-School Counselor to join our Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) team. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and social challenges in a structured school-based or after-school setting. This role focuses on providing therapeutic interventions, skill-building activities, behavioral support, and positive mentoring to help youth improve emotional regulation, social skills, coping abilities, and academic success. Responsibilities Provide direct therapeutic services to children and adolescents in an after-school or school-based setting. Facilitate individual and group therapeutic activities focused on emotional regulation, coping skills, anger management, problem-solving, communication, and social skill development. Implement individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions under the direction of the clinical supervisor. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused interventions, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed practices. Assist clients in developing healthy peer relationships, conflict resolution skills, and positive decision-making. Provide therapeutic redirection and behavioral coaching during structured activities. Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and document services accurately and timely. Collaborate with parents, teachers, school personnel, case managers, and other providers to coordinate care and support treatment objectives. Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required trainings. Ensure client safety by implementing crisis prevention and intervention strategies when necessary. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Medicaid, DMAS, and agency documentation standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Education, or a related field required. Master's degree or eligibility toward clinical licensure is preferred. Experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs preferred. Experience in Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT), Intensive In-Home (IIH), school-based services, youth programs, or behavioral health is highly desirable. Knowledge of behavior management techniques, trauma-informed care, and child development. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build positive therapeutic relationships with youth and families. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required depending on program needs. Preferred Skills Experience facilitating therapeutic groups. Knowledge of ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and disruptive behavior disorders. Crisis prevention and de-escalation skills. Strong organizational and documentation abilities. Ability to engage children through creative therapeutic activities, recreation, art, and skill-building exercises.
