When needed, position is most similar to gig work, plan on Festivals happening no more than 12 time per year in your area. First Festival day will be on October 8th in Bakersfield.

Job Overview:

An Impossible Science Educator will facilitate STEAM related Impossible Science Festival experiments to students (grades K-8th) at school districts across the state of California. An Educator will also help with the set up and tear down of the Festival, and can expect to work approximately 1-3 days per week. Travel will be required (and expenses reimbursed), and housing will be provided by Impossible Science. The Facilitator will report to the Festival Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Learning and using the Impossible Science™ "Teach Like a Magician" Instructional method
• Assembling and disassembling experiments for Festivals
• Ability to travel as far as Central California and Southern California during stated dates

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate minor or major in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, preferred
• Experience working with Primary School aged students
• Ability to load and unload boxes and experiments
• Adaptable and able to fill varied roles, day to day
• Working toward, or completed Educator Certificate in state of California
• Interested in working in the education industry
• Passionate about STEAM education

Compensation:

• $150-$250/day (based on relevant experience) for anywhere between 5-12 work days per year at minimum
