Job Description

Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy (CCJA) is seeking a knowledgeable, professional, and dependable Security Instructor to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the private security, law enforcement, military, or public safety field and be qualified to provide professional security training in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia . This position is ideal for an experienced security professional who enjoys teaching and wants to help prepare new and experienced security officers for success in the private security industry.
Responsibilities:
Deliver professional classroom and practical instruction to security students. Teach approved security courses in accordance with applicable Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. requirements. Maintain accurate attendance, training, and student documentation. Prepare classrooms and instructional materials before scheduled courses. Conduct practical exercises and student evaluations when required. Maintain a professional learning environment and represent CCJA professionally. Ensure training is consistent with applicable regulations, curriculum requirements, and academy standards. Provide students with practical, real-world knowledge of the private security industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current or previous security, law enforcement, military, corrections, or related public safety experience. Instructor credentials or experience providing professional training. Knowledge of private security regulations and industry standards. Virginia DCJS instructor certification/credentials are strongly preferred. Maryland security/instructor experience or credentials are a plus. Washington, D.C. security/instructor experience or credentials are a plus. HSI CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification is a plus. Strong communication and public-speaking skills. Ability to effectively instruct students with different experience levels and backgrounds. Professional appearance and demeanor. Dependable transportation and willingness to travel for training when necessary.
Compensation:
$25.00-$28.00 per hour , depending on qualifications, certifications, and instructional experience. Additional teaching opportunities may be available for instructors who hold multiple certifications or are qualified to teach specialized courses.
