This year long paid position offers a bi-weekly allowance of $857.69 (gross) through AmeriCorps and a unique opportunity to develop your skills in public health, community engagement, and program development while contributing to the well-being of rural populations. Duties Conduct community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about available health services and resources Provide culturally sensitive health education on topics such as nutrition, addiction counseling, Medicare, and preventive care Assist individuals with navigating healthcare systems, including scheduling appointments and understanding medical terminology Collect data on community needs and service utilization to support program planning and improvement efforts Support clients through motivational interviewing techniques to promote behavior change and health management Collaborate with local organizations to develop programs that address social determinants of health in underserved populations Maintain accurate records using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and ensure compliance with public health laws and policies Experience Prior experience working with individuals from diverse or underserved communities in a healthcare or social services setting Knowledge of public health principles, community engagement strategies, and program development processes Strong communication skills for client interaction, public speaking, and written reporting Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools for data collection, documentation, and presentations Bilingual abilities are highly valued to effectively serve diverse populations Experience in health education, community outreach, or public health program planning is preferred Basic life support certification and understanding of medical terminology are advantageous This role is perfect for motivated individuals passionate about improving community health through education, outreach, and compassionate service.
