Job Description

Category Health Information Management Job Type Contract Take on an impactful leadership role managing daily operations and compliance in Health Information Management. This six-month, full-time contract assignment offers the opportunity to oversee all HIM functions and serve as a Privacy Officer, shaping privacy practices while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours/week Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Compensation:
Weekly earnings range from $2,700 to $3,000 for qualified candidates.
What You'll Do:
Direct overall HIM operations including medical record management, release of information, coding oversight, and patient portal workflows. Oversee HIPAA privacy, lead investigations, audits, breach assessments, and required reporting. Develop, maintain, and implement privacy and HIM policies and procedures; ensure compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal regulations. Supervise staffing, budgeting, productivity, departmental quality, and regulatory readiness. Serve as Custodian of Medical Records and designated Privacy Officer. Collaborate with Compliance, IT, Patient Financial Services, Registration, Human Resources, and clinical leadership. Educate staff and organization on privacy, confidentiality, patient rights, and HIM practices. Actively participate in risk assessments, privacy incident responses, root cause analysis, and implementation of action plans.
Qualifications:
At least two years of medical coding experience. Strong knowledge of HIPAA, privacy, release of information, and medical record management. Professional and effective communicator, especially on sensitive information. Certification in healthcare privacy, compliance, coding, or HIM preferred—or willingness to obtain. Associate or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field is highly valued. Previous experience in a HIM leadership role, privacy investigations, and rural healthcare settings preferred. Strong analytical skills, responsibility, integrity, and customer focus.
