Job Description

NOTE:
Employees in these positions will be scheduled for not more than twenty-four (24) hours per week . A Public Health Technician, under general supervision, provides program and administrative support across a variety of public health services. The role involves working with confidential information and requires a strong understanding of public health protocols, client service, and recordkeeping procedures. An employee in this class conducts screenings, performs basic health testing, and interviews clients regarding sensitive medical and personal matters in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Public Health Technician is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and filing confidential medical records; responding to public inquiries with accurate program information; and supporting clinic and community-based operations. The position requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations. Other related duties may be assigned to support departmental goals and operations.1. Associate's Degree in childhood development, education, medical or related field such as Public Health, Human Services, Nursing, Early Child Education, or Health Sciences; OR High school diploma or GED; AND Two (2) years of work experience which shall have included customer service, clinic care, or experience with children in an early childhood, school or related experience. 2. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
NOTE :
Certification and training may be required to perform specific program activities.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class must be in good physical condition to allow for frequent standing, walking and lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An employee in this class may work in a variety of office and clinic settings and be required to travel from location to location within the County.

GH650 EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.
APPLICANT REVIEW PROCEDURE
Any applicant is entitled to a review of any determination or action taken by the County regarding the applicant's employment application. Inquiries should be directed to the County Human Resources Department. PURPOSE The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
