Education and Formal Training :
Certification by the State of North Carolina as an EMT-Basic or EMT required Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association required Completion ofNIMS 100, 200, & 700
required Possess and maintain a current driver's licenseWork Experience :
1 year of field EMS/Rescue or related work experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Working knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous material incidents, equipment and supplies employed in pre-hospital care, and of communications equipment used Working knowledge of locations in assigned County and the cities and locations contained therein, including but not limited to the major streets and landmarks, and of rest homes, convalescence care centers, and nursing homes Ability to work calmly under extremely stressful conditions and follow established rules, procedures, and protocols Ability to deal with patients, their families and others in a courteous, compassionate, professional manner under the most adverse circumstances, and an ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and other emergency and health care personnel Knowledgeable of age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical Requirements :
Ability to drive all types of ambulance vehicles with a thorough knowledge of safe driving procedures used in the response of emergency vehicles Ability to lift and move a minimum of 100 lbs. on a regular basis with the added strength to lift upwards of 150 lbs Strength required when moving a patient from a bed to the floor, chair to the floor, or from a stretcher to a bed Hearing, speaking and visual acuity Must possess the ability to move around numerous physical locations, some within confined areas Required Licenses and Certifications EMT- NC Office Of Emergency Medical Services Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
