DESCRIPTION
The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing emergency medical services. This person also operates and utilizes specially equipped vehicles. When providing emergency medical services, the person in this position is in radio contact with, and may receive direction from paramedics and/or supervising physicians. Work is performed under the direction of the Paramedic Supervisor. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
At time of application candidate must possess a current certification as an EMT-Basic, issued by the NYS Department of Health, in accordance with Part 800, Chapter IV of the Emergency Medical Service Code.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
At time of appointment, possession of a current certification in CPR and possession of a driver's license issued by NYS Department of Motor Vehicles and continued possession of said license required to maintain employment.

diane.becker@albanycountyny.gov Candidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a "HELP Program" position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
