  • FTE•1 •Job Description•Full-time, Days•7:30am-4pm•80 hrs/2 weeks•General Summary•Provides safe, therapeutic and efficient transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) care and services to patients.

Assists in direct patient care, performs treatments, and instructs patients and their families in appropriate care, as directed by their provider. Is an active team participant in patient-centered practice, by aiding in the development of office workflows that support patient centered care.

  • Essential Functions:
  • + Schedules patients appropriately for TMS services, completing all registration tasks, including check-in and check-out procedures.

+ Assists provider in initial mapping and prescribing of patient-specific protocols.

+ Explains and administers daily treatments, specific to physician protocols, to patients while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

+ Completes daily treatment notes using electronic health records, and NeuroStar TMS software system. These notes are cosigned by a physician and result in payment for services which require a high degree of accuracy to meet specific payor and regulatory requirements.

+ Provides excellent patient care and treats patients with compassion while developing trust and rapport. Provides support, reflective listening, and compassion to patients who may be struggling. Treaters interact with patients daily for several weeks over the course of treatment.

+ Monitors patients for medical symptoms and/or side effects and provides medical intervention to patients in an emergency.

+ Administers psychiatric rating scales on a daily and weekly basis to each patient, these screeners are used to determine success of treatment.

+ Works collaboratively with the Supervisor of TMS services to support administrative functions of the TMS program, including but not limited to scheduling appointments, inbound and outbound telephone calls and patient messages in electronic health records.

+ Ensures all patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired medical supplies, and equipment is in good working condition.

+ Maintains strict confidentiality of patient's health information.

+ Responsible for the care and maintenance of department/entity equipment and supplies; mail distribution. Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.

+ Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.

  • + Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors into the Safety Reporting System (SRS System), as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

+ Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

+ Embraces the concepts for ensuring a positive patient/family experience every visit, every time. Fosters teamwork with coworkers, and providers. Practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Attends Quality Improvement Team meetings, and other meetings as assigned.

  • Minimum Education:
  • + Bachelor's degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA in a recognized clinical discipline including social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, or activity therapies
  • Work Experience:
  • + 1 year Experience in a primary care or specialty office. Required
  • Licenses:
  • + Basic Life Support within 90 days Required + Certified Medical Assistant within 90 days Preferred
  • Courses and Training:
  • + Successful completion of 3-day TMS Certification with TMS vendor (training and certification provided during initial period of employment).

  • + Proficient communication skills including SBAR technique.
